Organized Crime

Organized crime and corruption is another reason for the trafficking of children in the sex trade. Researchers have estimated that 1/3 of the men abusing the children are foreigners, 1/3 are locals, and 1/3 are Government officials and policemen. For example, (83) girls were rescued In December of 2004 from brothels in Cambodia. The next day, thirty (30) men armed with machine guns attacked the safe house and took the girls back to the brothels while the police simply watched.
