“Remember Nhu” Newsletter, Vol. 2, No. 2, summer 2005
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Thankfulness
I am so thankful for the ways God is already using “Remember Nhu.” Several of our partnerships are being affected by in positive ways. Please visit our website at http://www.remembernhu.com/ to see pictures of two building projects and children we are supporting. Thank you so much for those of you who have and are providing support to “Remember Nhu” and the children described in this newsletter. If you have given financially you will receive a statement and a copy of the Malone Magazine article on “Remember Nhu”. You will receive a statement each time you give a gift. If you are supporting us through prayer please continue as God is answering your prayers in special ways.
A Strategic Vision Trip
Many of you prayed for us (Carl Ralston, President of “Remember Nhu,” Dr. John David Geib, Board member, Todd Biss, documentary film maker and Charles Harvey, Director of Grace Ministries) during what turned out to be a strategically important vision trip to SE Asia, April- May, 2005. Your prayers were answered! John, Charles, and I discussed in depth future strategies for the partnership between Grace Ministries and “Remember Nhu.” Through a God given vision-direction to John and Carl, Charles embraced the vision to establish ministries modeled after Grace Ministries throughout SE Asia, with strong support from “Remember Nhu.” Charles’ courageous step of faith brought tears to our eyes and overwhelming feelings of humility as we caught a glimpse of what God had on the horizon. Please pray for this as it will be one of the major goals of “Remember Nhu” for several years. The first replication of Charles’ model of ministry will be in SE Asia and led by one of Charles best pupils. She was given an opportunity for success through and currently serves at Grace Ministries. Now, she will pass on that opportunity for success to her people.
Orphans at risk rescued by Love
While in SE Asia, we visited a home for orphaned children who had been living on the streets. The directors are Luke and Tutu. When we pulled up to their home, we watched 30 children with tears of joy in their eyes swarm Luke and Tutu. Then the children realized there were visitors and even before we could get out of the truck John, Todd, Charles, and I were also swarmed with huge smiles and little hands grabbing ours. The children held our hands and gave us tours of their home. I am crying as I write this, thinking of an 8 year-old little hand in mine and her smiling face looking up at me. We took oranges, watermelons, and other fruits to give to the children. The children only get fruit once a month because of a lack of finances and they were as happy as a five year old on Christmas morning. As we left, the children chased our truck, thanked us, and begged us to return. We each were not able to fight our tears back and vowed to help these children. At breakfast the next day with Tutu and Luke, Tutu asked us not to forget them and to pray for the children. God had already taken care of that, as one of the men in our group decided to give up his daily iced tea at lunch to pay for the children’s fruit every other day for the next year. It was put on his heart as a way to help him remember to pray for the children each day and to be Jesus' hands in a tangible way. In the following emails you will see some of the children eating the fruit. The children range from 2 to 16 years old. All of them were orphaned because of AIDS, TB, Typhoid, Drugs and other scourges. These children were absolutely certain to end up being trafficked without this intervention. The Lord impressed upon our hearts the great risk for being trafficked that thousands of other orphans are under in the world. “Remember Nhu” will be meeting with the founder of Asia's Hope that shares a similar concern for orphans. “Remember Nhu” will partner in this venture by providing finances for the care of the children.
Another Rescue by Love
“Remember Nhu” also began sponsoring a 14 year old girl who was sold to a brothel by her mother but was rescued by an international ministry team. We are paying her $30 per month support for two years while she gets vocational training. This $720 will provide her with the opportunity to earn a skill that will allow her to support herself and her mother. A mere $720 saved her from an unthinkable life of forced prostitution and AIDS. And giving up a drink at lunch is providing fruit every other day for 30 children. Five hundred dollars' worth of iced teas and $720 seems insignificant except when it is used by the Lord to save lives. “Remember Nhu” has opportunities like these with many ministries. If you will sponsor a special project like fruit for orphans or sponsoring one particular child, feel free to call or write with questions.
With Jesus' Love,
Carl Ralston, Founder and President, “Remember Nhu”
