“Remember Nhu” Newsletter, Vol. 1, No. 2, Christmas 2004

Merry Christmas to you all! This seemed to me the best day to send an update on a ministry that honors and protects children, and may we all wish Jesus a Happy Birthday.

501-C-3 Approval Status

We are still waiting for our 501-C-3 approval from the IRS. Please pray that we meet with their approval. We desire to honor the Lord and established authority in this application because “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God" (Romans 13:1). Additionally, we have many people who are waiting for this approval so they can financially support “Remember Nhu,” and we have two ministries in Asia patiently waiting for our support.

Highlights from our 2004 Vision Trip

Growing in Awareness
In our previous newsletter, I reported that Stefanie May (C&MA Missionary candidate), Kevin Miller (“Remember Nhu” board member), Laurie Ralston (my wife a board member) and myself (Carl Ralston) went to SE Asia, November 23rd through December 2nd. All of them knew a great deal about trafficking in children and “Remember Nhu” before this trip. After the trip, I asked them to assume their knowledge about the trafficking issues in Asia and the plight of the children was now at a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. I then asked them what their understanding was before the trip. They each said, "3 to 4." This was a huge encouragement to me because I hold that no matter how much a person learns about the plight of trafficked children, true understanding comes when we look in their eyes. Their eyes bring me to tears as I type this letter. I appeal to each of you to please pray for the little babies, now as young as 4 years old, who are being sold into the sex-slave industry. Remember Jesus words as we “Remember Nhu” and her sisters, "'Whoever welcomes one of these little ones in My name welcome Me...'" (Mark 9:37).

Growing in Understanding
On the trip we went to Agape House, an orphanage for babies with HIV and AIDS. We saw a six year old who had less than a week to live. As I saw those with me breaking down at the sights I had to turn away. Another difficult time I had was watching Laurie pass out candies to Vietnamese refugee children who were in school in Cambodia. As Laurie looked in the eyes of these “'little ones'," her lip was quivering and she had tears streaming down her face. Then I knew she understood why my life is totally devoted to doing everything within my power to stop the use of children in the sex-trade industry. Remember Jesus words, "'Whoever welcomes one of these little ones in My name welcome Me...'" (Mark 9:37).

Growing in Action
This trip was unusual for me because I was not very emotional. God placed within me that now is time to do something about the trafficking of children. I was more task oriented during this trip. The trip was successful because we have the things in place to start making a positive difference in the lives of children. As soon as the IRS approves “Remember Nhu” and we get the finances, we are now in a position to save immediately about 30 girls.

Upcoming Trips

If you would be interested in going to Asia please give me a call or drop me a note. I plan on leading a trip in the spring or summer of 2005. The Christian &Missionary Alliance has asked me to be part of an awesome trip in November 2005.

“Remember Nhu” Presentation Development and Opportunities for Service

Dr. John David Geib (a board member) visited Ohio in December and helped me to arrange the formal “Remember Nhu” presentations. Now we have versions of the presentation that fit different situations, which also allows for different people to represent “Remember Nhu” while retaining uniformity in our presentations. If you feel you may want to be involved in this way or want to have a presentation done at your church, at work or to your family and friends, please let me know.

With Jesus Love,
Carl Ralston, Founder and President, “Remember Nhu”
